Alcan/G3 Expansion Project at Gove, NT

ATIVO has successfully completed its largest project, providing Fly In/Fly Out (FIFO) shutdown crews for the Alcan/G3 Expansion Project at Gove in the Northern Territory.

Client
Alcan was expanding its alumina refinery operations, increasing production from 2 million to 3.8 million tonnes of alumina per annum.
Scope
Requiring an experienced shutdown crew to ensure the successful completion of the upgrade, Alcan called on ATIVO.
Crew
The initial contract with Alcan/G3 was for supply of the shutdown crew from 19 December to 19 January, using two rolling crews totalling 120 personnel. Due to outstanding performance in the initial stages of the project, the contract with ATIVO was extended to 28 February and saw four crews mobilised, involving some 185 crew members.
Outcome
During this period, the progress target was 40% however ATIVO helped achieve an outstanding 65% progress during the Christmas/New Year break.
The Post project review identified the following highlights:
- 1751 Safety Observations Completed
- Over 71,000 man hours were completed (LTI Free)
- All workflows were completed on or before schedule
- Many additional (previously unidentified) tasks were carried out within the originally scheduled time frame
- 85% ATIVO Crew Retention
- 6500+ Pre Shift Alcohol Screens
- 100% Pre Mobilisation Drug & Alcohol Screens
